Brenda Lovick, MDiv, MA, LMFT
Professional Background
Brenda Lovick is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an ordained ELCA Lutheran minister. Brenda graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary with her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and her Master of Divinity in 2006. Brenda has experience working in community outreach services and professional pastoral care.She has worked in community based programs, volunteered in community organizing, and pastored in churches. Brenda’s core values include diversity and inclusivity; she is experienced in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families with the particular societal challenges they face. Brenda is uniquely skilled to accompany people through life transitions, spiritual development, and religious trauma.
Additional Training
Brenda uses the Prepare-Enrich Relationship Inventory, which is a tool used to strengthen a couple’s relationship. She has also completed training at UW-Madison specific to grief support. Brenda’s practice is informed by her professional memberships in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT); the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT); and the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
