Depression is another general term that gets used a lot to describe many things.
There are different kinds of depression as it falls on a continuum/spectrum from mild to severe. A single event might happen to you and cause you to get depressed but that is not to be confused with someone with a mental health condition of clinical depression.
Although both can be severe and we work with both cases.
Understanding the different types of depression is important for both you and for your loved ones.
Someone with clinical depression may feel depressed but cannot give you a specific reason because it is chemical imbalance that they do not have control over. There are still options though to help manage the depression.
Depending on the severity of depression, a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and medication can be helpful. We do not have any prescribers at this time, and you would need to talk to your primary doctor to find a Psychiatrist.
Suicide is a very dangerous side effect of depression and we take it very seriously at our center. If you are feeling suicidal please don't wait to contact someone. Your life may depend on it.
If you don't already have a therapist in mind, we recommend calling our new client line and speaking with our New Client Intake Coordinator who can help match you with an appropriate therapist for your needs.
